We know how frustrating it can be when you send someone an important message and they don’t answer right away. There is a simple way to tell if someone is ignoring you or if they just haven’t had a chance to read your message yet.
The trick we explain in this article will also let you know if they haven’t read it or are ignoring you. It also works for both iPhone and Android users.
Of course, you should be careful, because it doesn’t work with all programs.
If you want to ignore a message, don’t forget to check out our article on how to read it without the sender knowing.
How to know if someone has read your message on Android
To find out if someone has read the message you just sent, you must first be using a messaging app that needs to be connected to the Internet and not the SMS app that came with your device.
In this case, we’re talking about apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and the messaging app that Google made for Android that you can download from the Google Play store.
These apps will let you know when a message has been sent, received, and read. This will let you know if the message got to the person it was meant for and if the person actually saw it.
In the case of WhatsApp, a grey tick means that the message has been sent, two grey ticks mean that you have reached the recipient’s phone, and two blue ticks mean that they have read it or, in a group, that everyone has.

With Facebook Messenger, on the other hand, when the person you sent a message to has read it, a small circle with their profile picture will appear below the message. If they’ve gotten it but haven’t read it yet, you’ll see a blue check mark.
How to know if someone has read your message on iOS
Keep in mind that if you don’t use WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or iMessage, you won’t be able to find out if someone has read your message on an iPhone. In the first two, the same theory that applies to Android also applies.
When it comes to iMessage, the first thing you need to know is how to tell when you’re using it: look at the color of the message you send. If it’s blue, it’s an iMessage. If it’s green, it’s a regular SMS, and you won’t know if it’s been read or not.
Also, you can only send messages to other iPhone users when you are connected to the Internet and they also have an iPhone. Also, you won’t know if they’ve read it until they turn on the “Notify reading” setting in their “Settings.”
If this is true, you will be able to see that after reading the message below it, the word “Read” and the time it was read will show up in small letters. You’ll see the time if it happened that day or the date if it happened the week before.
